2 probe bodies over Sreemangal train derailment

MOULVIBAZAR: Two separate probe committees have been formed over the derailments of 11 compartments of Dhaka-bound Upaban Express train in Sreemangal.

Earlier on early Friday (February 23), rail communication between Sylhet and other parts of the country suspended as a train of Upaban Express derailed in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar.

While inspecting the accident spot on Friday noon, Bangladesh Railway Dhaka Division manager (DRM) Gousul Munir told reporters that the probe committees were directed to submit reports within three working days. 

Munir said Bangladesh Railway eastern region general manager Abdul Hai formed a four-member committee led by chief signal and telecom engineer Chandan kanti Das. The other three members are- chief mechanical engineer Mizanur Rahman, chief engineer Arifuzzaman, chief operating superintendent Sujit Kumar. 

On the other hand, another five member probe committee was formed led by Bangladesh Railway Dhaka Divisional acting transport officer Shafiqur Rahman.
