DHAKA: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said the government is mulling to impose 20 percent tax on locally made products in the next budget.

Urging all to cooperate, the minister also said this 20 percent tax will contribute greatly to the country’s economy.

Finance Minister Abul M. Abdul Muhith made the remarks while inaugurating the BASIS SoftExpo 2018 as chief guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka on Thursday (February 22).

Mentioning that the preparation of the next budget will begin from next month, Muhuth said a big budget will help to grow people’s personal ability, human resource and public services.

With the slogan ‘designing the future’, the 4-day BASIS SoftExpo kicked off on Thursday (February 22). 

Finance Minister Abul M. Abdul Muhith inaugurated the program as chief guest while Post, Telecommunications and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present as special guest.

In the inaugural speech BASIS SoftExpo Convener Mostafizur Rahman Sohel said, BASIS is working relentlessly to put forth the dream of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s digital Bangladesh. BASIS SoftExpo 2018 will showcase the ability of local companies of Bangladesh.

In the speech of special guest ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar said in this month of February, Bangladesh is working towards another milestone. SoftExpo 2018 will put forth all the hard and soul efforts of ICT companies of Bangladesh.

On the speech of chief guest Finance Minister Abul M. Abdul Muhith said Bangladesh ICT Ministry is ever going. BASIS softexpo is paving our way to bigger and better future.
