RAJSHAHI: Police recovered the bodies of a man and a woman from separate places in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi on Monday morning (February 19).

The deceased were identified as Mokhles Ali, 45, son of one late Mozahar Ali of Nakulbari village of the upazila and Salma Khatun, 21, daughter of Abdus Salam of Dhananjaypara village. 

According to family members, both of them committed suicide. 

Rajshahi Puthia police station Inspector (OC-Investigation) Rakibul Hasan told Banglanews that Salma tried to commit suicide by consuming poison on Thursday night (Feb 8). She was taken to Rajshahi Medical college Hospital. Despite being treated for 10 days, she succumbed to abdominal injuries on Sunday morning.

On the other hand, Mokhles has been suffering from illness for long time. On Sunday morning, family members informed police after discovering his hanged body inside bedroom, said the inspector.

The bodies were sent to RMCH morgue. Unnatural death (UD) case will also be filed in this regard, inspector Rakibul added.
