DHAKA: The immigration department of Malaysia’s Kedah state has detained 54 illegal migrants including 17 Bangladeshi nationals.
Officials conducted a raid named ‘Op Mega’ in Naga, Kubang and pasu area of Alor Setar city in Kedah state on early Monday (February 19), said Kedah immigration department director Juhaer Jamaluddin.
He said a total of 54 people were found undocumented after searching 85 people in the area. Of them, 29 men, 4 women and one child are Indonesian nationals. 17 detainees are identified as Bangladeshis and three from Myanmar.
The detainees are currently being held at the lockup of Home Ministry before sending them to Sike Blantika immigration detention center.
