Family alleges doctor’s negligence in pregnant woman’s death in Bogra Pulse General Hospital, Sherpur

BOGRA: Allegations have been raised that a pregnant woman lost her life due to the negligence of the physicians at a private hospital in Sherpur upazila of Bogra.

Police, in a drive, detained the hospital manager and a staff over the incident Sunday (February 18).

The deceased was identified as Putuli, 25, wife of one Shiben in Khamarkandi area under Sherpur. 

The pregnant woman was taken to Pulse General Hospital for delivery, at around 2:00am. She was admitted there and underwent surgery later. She fell seriously ill and was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) for further treatment, Sherpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam told Banglanews.

But, the authority of SZMCH said that the woman died much earlier before taken there, added the OC.  

However, police recovered the body from SZMCH at around 9:00pm, following complaints filed by the deceased’s husband.  

Pulse General Hospital owner Dr Aktarul Alam and concerned others are in hiding after the incident, police said.
