CHITTAGONG: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Police was shot by some unknown miscreants at a police check post in Sholoshahar area of Chittagong on Friday afternoon (Feb 16).

The check post was set up at Gate-2 in Sholoshahar area as part of a special operation.    

The injured cop, identified as Abdul Malek, 38, ASI of Panchlaish police station, was conducting search operation when some motorcycle ridden miscreants shot him around 4:00pm and quickly fled the scene.

ASI Malek was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). 

CMCH police outpost in-charge Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan told Banglanews that Malek sustained bullet injuries above his knee. He is being treated with Emergency medical care after performing an X-ray of his leg.

Panchlaish police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohiuddin Mahmud told Banglanews that following the incident, police detained one person with a motorcycle form the spot. An operation is also underway to detain the rest of the suspects.
