FENI: A suspected robber was killed and three cops were injured in a reported gunfight at Pathannagar in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni on early Friday (February 16).

The deceased was identified as Md Sohrab Hossain Shourav, 30, son of one Md Amin, hailed from the area. 

Chhagalnaiya police station inspector MM Morshed told Banglanews that a robbery was committed in the area a few days back when locals captured one of the robber and beaten him to death. 

"Later police detained Shourav over the incident. Based on information given by Shourav, police conducted a raid on Thursday night to capture other accused. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, miscreants opened fire and cops responded accordingly leaving Shaurav bullet-hit. He died later." 

Three police constables- Mainuddin, Khorshed Alam, Mithun Chakma- were injured during the shootout. They were admitted to Chhagalnaiya upazila health complex, the inspector added.
