BRAHMANBARIA: Law minister Anisul Huq said the certified copy of the Zia Orphanage Trust case verdict that sentenced BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years' imprisonment will be issued in reasonable time.
He made the remarks as chief guest at a program organized for distributing clothes among orphans and laptops among school students in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Friday noon (February 16).
Earlier on February 8, A special court in Dhaka sentenced five years jail to BNP Chief Khaleda Zia in a graft case. However, her lawyers are claiming now that the certified copy of the verdict is not being issued intentionally to delay the appeal process.
The minister said, “BNP lawyers’ claim is absolutely false. The copy will be issued as soon as the court finishes its work. This matter has nothing to do with the government. The 632-page long verdict takes time to prepare and I am sure it will be delivered within reasonable time.”
