DHAKA: Security measures have been tightened in the High Court areas centering BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s hearing.

Following the attack on police on Tuesday, extra police forces were deployed in and around the HC areas to avert any untoward situation on Wednesday (January 31). 

A large number of police members were deployed in front of the two gates of HC. Moreover, Armored Personal carrier (APS), water canon and prison van were also seen placed in front of the HC shrine gate.

People seeking to enter HC are being questioned and identified at the gate at first. Over 50 people were detained on suspicion from Press Club, High Court and Matsya Bhaban areas. 

Ramna divisional deputy-commissioner (DC) Maruf Hossain Sardar told Banglanews that the extra security measures were taken to clear the HC areas.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, when BNP chief Khaleda Zia was leaving court area after hearing, some BNP men attacked cops and vandalized a prison van to snatch party men from police custody in front of HC.
