Bodies of man, woman recovered in Sylhet hotel

SYLHET: Police recovered the bodies of a young man and a woman from a residential hotel in Sylhet city on Sunday night (January 21).

The deceased were identified as Rumi Paul, 25, a resident of Nizpat village at Jointapur upazila of the district, and Mintu Deb, 26, a resident of Jagannath Bari area at Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamganj.

Police recovered the bodies from the Room No 202 of ‘Hotel Meherpur’ situated at Sobhanighat area in the city. Police, however, detained manager of the hotel Abdul Wadur for interrogation.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Md Gousul Hossain said they suspect that the young man committed suicide after killing the young woman. They found injury mark in throat of the woman.

The victims rented the hotel room at about 10:00 am. After recovery, the bodies were sent to the MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
