14 students held in Ctg police drives

CHITTAGONG: Police, in separate drives, detained 14 students from two hostels adjacent to Chittagong Polytechnic Institute since Saturday evening (January 20).

Bayazid Bostami Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam told Banglanews that earlier they recovered 8 machetes and 7 falchions from the roof of a hostel in Muzaffarnagar area, during a search. Afterwards, 12 students, residents of the hostel, were detained for interrogation.

Claiming that all the detainees are activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the OC said the students are being suspected of storing the arms.

However, the other two students were detained in a drive carried out at another hostel in Tulatuli area close to the government polytechnic institute, said Khulshi Police Station OC Sheikh Md Nasir Uddin.
