DHAKA: World Bank’s South Asian Region Vice-President Annette Dixon has said that the Rohingya crisis is growing rapidly. The World Bank is ready to help to end the crisis.

Dixon said this at a press release issued by the organization’s Dhaka office in South Asia region on Saturday (January 20).

The press release was said that he World Bank will work together with the Bangladeshi government to tackle the crisis.

After visiting the Rohingya camps in the Cox's Bazar recently, Annette Dixon praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for sheltering and caring for the large influx of Rohingya fleeing violence in Myanmar.

"The influx of Rohingya in Cox's Bazar is enormous. As far as the eyes can see, shelter is spotted. It is creating huge pressure on the water resources and the environment. When the monsoon approaches, the challenges with disease and natural disasters will increase," Dixon said.

“The Bangladesh government and the people have shown great generosity. Others should come forward to solve this crisis as soon as possible. Global support is needed in this regard,” she said.
