DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that legal actions will be taken against private universities who have not met requirements.
The Minister issued the warning while addressing the fifth convocation of United International University (UIU) at Badda Madani Avenue in the city on Saturday (January 20).
He said, “The private universities who have not become successful, who have failed to fulfill conditions in creating environment to run universities, who have aim to make profit and not shifted to their own campuses, who are operating activities on more than one campus, it is difficult to bring them to the mainstream despite constant pressure.”
“Therefore, we have options left, but to take legal action against them. Besides, we don’t distinguish between students of private and public universities. They are all our children, future of the nation, Nahid added.
Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Mineral Resources Dr. Md. Ahmad Kaikaus, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of United International University Mohammad Hasan Mahmud Raja, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Mafizur Rahman.
