DHAKA: A mild earthquake jolted several districts of northern part of the country Saturday morning (January 20).
The moderately strong quake was felt in the districts including Rangpur, Kurigram, Panchagarh, Nilphamari and Rajshahi at around 7:14am. This was felt by most people indoors and outdoors.
Seismological Research Centre Wireless Supervisor of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) Md Zahirul Islam said the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 4.5 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter was traced some 270 kilometers away from Dhaka, on Bangladesh-India boarder in Kurigram, he added.
However, no casualty was reported immediately.
