DHAKA: The first namaz-e-janaza of Fisheries and Livestock Minister M Sayedul Hoque was held at the South plaza of Jatiya Sangsad early Sunday (December 17).
President Md Abdul Hamid, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Minister for Road Transport & Bridges Obaidul Quader, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Rail Minister Mujibul Haque, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, Civil Aviation & Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, MPs, cabinet members and people from different walks of life attended the prayers.
Afterwards, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah paid tribute to Sayedul Hoque.
National Parliamentary Committee President Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton and MP ABM Tajul Islam paid respect to Sayedul on behalf of Awami League parliamentary Party while Whip Nurul Islam Omar was on behalf of the opposition.
Sayedul was accorded a guard of honor, on behalf of Dhaka district administration.
However, the body will be taken to the minister’s home district Brahmanbaria where he will be buried after another namaz-e-janaza.
Sayedul breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), at 8:39pm Saturday (December 16). He was 75.
He was suffering from various old age complications.
