Trump’s Jerusalem move may spark fresh violence in Middle East Masud Bin Momen addressing at the UN committee meeting

DHAKA: US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and his decision to relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv may trigger hostility in the Middle East regions.

Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN Ambassador Masud Bin Momen made the remark while addressing at the UN General Assembly's Committee on the Exercise of Inalienable Rights of Palestinian People, at UN Headquarters in New York Thursday (December 14).

We are expressing concern over Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, he said.

(Expressing concern) over the decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem too.  It can lead the Muslim nations to set the fire of outrage. Consequently, the conflict-ridden Middle East may face fresh unrest, hostility and extremist violence; which will be a threat to the international safety and security, he added.

Ambassador Masud reiterated his country’s support to establish Palestine as an independent nation based on the boundary fixed in 1967.

He also urged for implementing realistic measures to restore peace by resolving Palestine crisis.
