RAJSHAHI: A man allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife over family dispute at Pakuria village in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi on early Thursday (Dec 14).

The deceased were identified as van-puller Abdul Mannan, 48 and his wife Kajoli Akhter Rumi, 44.

Locals said the couple went to sleep on Wednesday night and Kajoli woke up shouting in the middle of the night. Mannan’s mother and son, sleeping in the next room, rushed into the Kajoli’s room and found her in a critical condition. She was taken to Bagha thana health complex where on-duty physician declared her dead.

However, Mannan was missing following the incident and his hanging body was found in a Litchi plantation on Thursday morning.

Mannan’s younger son Sabbir Hossain claimed that his father first strangled his mother to death following a dispute and later hanged himself.
