DHAKA: The High Court on Thursday (December 14) directed the government to stop the production and also use of hydraulic horns of vehicles around school, college and hospital areas.

Besides, use of all types of horns has been banned for the residential and VIP areas of Dhaka city after 10 at the night. 

Moreover, no vehicle will be allowed to drive beyond 20km/h. 

The HC bench of Justices Kazi Rezaul Haque and Mohammad Ullah passed the order, said Lawyer Monjil Morshed.

The secretary to the home affairs and the inspector general of police (IGP) will instruct their subordinates for further implementation of the directives, said Monjil.

Earlier, on August 23, the HC directed the government to stop using hydraulic horns of vehicles in Dhaka city within 48 hours. It also directed the authorities concerned to seize the horns available in local markets apart from imposing a ban on import of the item.
