ISHWARDI, PABNA: A Jubo League leader Shirhan Sharif Tomal, also son of Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, was sent to jail for attacking four journalists in Pabna.

Magistrate Md. Rezaul Karim of Pabna Additional Chief Judicial court passed the order on Wednesday (Dec 13) denying a bail petition filed by Tomal.

On Nov 29, four journalists were injured in a terrorist attack while collecting information at the site of Rooppur nuclear power plant in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila.

Later, Partha Sarkar, a district correspondent of DBC TV channel, filed a case with Ishwardi police station accusing 30 people including Tomal and other Jubo League leaders.

Ishwardi police station officer-in-charge (OC) Azimuddin told Banglanews that a total of 10 people have arrested so far over the attack incident.

Ishwardi circle Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Zahurul Huq told Banglanews the accused are being arrested after screening video footage of the incident.
