DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court fixed January 2 to issue its order on the gazette notification about disciplinary rules of the lower court judges.

The four-member appellate bench led by Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah fixed the date Wednesday (Dec 13).

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state in the hearing.

The appellate division told the attorney general at the courtroom that the order will be announced on Jan 2 as a member of the bench was absent Wednesday.

The gazette was issued on Monday (Dec 11).

The same bench earlier set the deadline Dec 13 to the government for issuing a gazette notification.

However, following a verdict in a case known as ‘Masdar Hossain Case’ in 1999, the state was given instructions to introduce the gazette.

The state side was earlier granted times in several occasions to publish the gazette.
