DHAKA: The government is set to launch e-passport in a bid to ease the lengthy immigration process for travelers.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the announcement at a program in city’s Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday noon (Dec 12).
He said the e-passport is being launched under the direction of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Moreover, e-gate system will also be launched with e-passport so that travelers won’t have to stand in the queue while crossing immigration.
Earlier in the morning, a toll-free hotline number '999' was inaugurated in DMP’s Crime and Control Unit as part of extended national emergency services.
