DHAKA: The government has launched a hotline, to facilitate the fire, ambulance and police assistance to the people.

Now the above-mentioned care can be availed by dialing 999, for instant help.  The dialer won’t be charged for the call.  

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son also her Advisor for Information and Communication Technology affairs Sajeeb Wazed Joy opened the number, in a program at DMP Crime & Command Centre Tuesday (December 12).

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Public Security Department Secretary to the Home Ministry Mostofa Kamal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque attended the program.

Police will operate the help line—999.

The hotline was initiated as the people can avail support instantly, in case of any emergency crisis-- accident, crime incident or fire, by dialing the number.
