Time extended till Dec 13 to publish judges’ gazette

DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court set the deadline December 13 to the government for issuing a gazette notification on job discipline and code of conduct for lower court judges.

Final draft of the gazette earlier sent to the office of the president on Thursday (December 7).

The appellate bench led by Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah issued the order Sunday (December 10).

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for the state in the hearing.

Earlier, the time was extended till Dec 10, to publish the gazette.

Law Minister said at a program in Dhaka University (DU) on Friday (December 8) that the gazette would be published on early of next week.

However, following a verdict in a case known as ‘Masdar Hossain Case’ in 1999, the state was given instructions to introduce the gazette.

The state side was earlier granted times in several occasions to publish the gazette.
