NARAYANGANJ: A security personnel of the Narayanganj branch of United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCBL) were killed as a fire ravaged the bank early Sunday (December 10).

Locals said that the fire ensued at the bank building near Narayanganj thana pond area mosque, at 5:30am. All the insiders of the building took shelter at the roof of a 10-storey building to its next. 

Sadar model police station sub-inspector (SI) Saiful Islam said that Selim, 50, the guard, was burnt to death in the blaze. The body was recovered.

Fireman Kamal Hossain from Mondol Para Fire Service station said that several firefighting units including five from Dhaka worked at the spot, to tame the fire.
