RAJSHAHI: The authorities of Rajshahi Institute of Health Technology (IHT) formed a probe committee as some of its female students came under attack allegedly by leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Wednesday (Dec 6).

IHT principal Dr. Sirajul Islam on Thursday (Dec 7) said a three-member probe body led by associate Prof Anowarul Islam has been formed. The other two members of the committee are Assistant Prof Selim Khan and Durul Huda.

On the other hand, BCL central command has expelled IHT unit BCL president Zahidul Islam Zahid, Vice-president Mizan Ali, Foysal Hossain and general secretary Anowar Hoosain Tuhin.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Rajshahi metropolitan unit BCL recommended dissolving the IHT BCL unit with the expulsion of its four leaders.

On Wednesday morning, IHT female students staged demo and blocked the principle demanding security and stopping outsiders’ entry inside hostel. BCL men launched an attack on the protesting female students leaving at least three injured.

Following the incident, IHT authority closed down the institution for indefinite period and all students were asked to leave halls within afternoon.
