DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deeper shock at the departure of eminent folk singer-lyricist-flutist Bari Siddiqui.

“The countrymen have lost a celebrated artist of Bangla folk song. Bari Siddiqui will remain alive as long as the folk music exists”, Sheikh Hasina said in a condolence message as quoted by her Press Wing.
 
The premiere prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

However, Bari Siddiqui breathed his last at around 2:15am Friday (November), at Square Hospitals in Dhaka.

The artist, 63, was suffering from diabetes and kidney problems.
