GAZIPUR: A driver of a Lalmonirhat-bound train was killed in a collision between the train and a truck in an illegally installed rail crossing in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur early Friday (November 24).

The deceased was identified as Sharif.  

Joydebpur Railway Junction Police Outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector (SI) SM Rakibul Haque told Banglanews that a truck became motionless as its engine stopped, while passing the crossing in Boktarpur area of Kaliakoir, at around 1:45am.


 
The driver and helper of the truck fled away while a train of Lalmoni Express came close to it.

The train hit the stranded truck, leaving the train driver dead on the spot. 

The body was taken to Kaliakoir upazila health complex.

However, no passenger was hurt in the incident.

Train communication resumed at 7:00 in the morning, after the disruption at the night.
