BARGUNA: A case has been filed against sub-assistant engineer of Barguna Roads and Highways Department (RHD) Monirul Islam over bribery.

One Foysal Ahmed filed the the case with Barguna court on Tuesday (November 21).

Judge Hassanuzzaman of the Special Tribunal-1 of the District and Sessions Court on Thursday (November 23 directed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the allegation.

According to the case statement, Engineer Monirul Islam has been taking bribe of Tk 40,000 each month from Foysal Ahmed as bribery while he is working as the lessee of Baritola ferry in Barguna for two years.

In the fiscal year 2015-2016, by means of fake tender, he embezzled Tk 9, 45000, Tk 12, 90000 in two phases and later Tk 7, 50000 through quotations.

A total of 33 specific allegations of corruption have been made against him.
