DHAKA: Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi sat in a meeting in Naypyidaw Thursday morning (November 23) to discuss Rohingya repatriation issue and some other bilateral matters.

The meeting started at 10:00 am (local time) at Suu Kyi's office, said the foreign ministry sources here. The meeting lasted for 45 minutes.

Both the countries are expected to sign an arrangement on repatriation of the displaced Rohingya people soon if both sides can reach a consensus.

However, a briefing to the media is also expected from the both sides at the Ministry of State Counsellor Office at 2:00 pm after signing the agreement, said the sources.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Myanmar agreed on formation of a joint working group to launch the repatriation process.

However, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque, Bangladesh Ambassador to Yangon M Sufiur Rahman and representatives from Home Ministry and Prime Minister's Office also attended the meeting in Naypyidaw earlier on Wednesday (November 22).
