DHAKA: A couple was killed as a passenger bus rammed them in Tongi area of Gazipur on Thursday noon (Nov 16).

The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 45, son of one Abdul Khaleq of Molla village in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur and his wife Mahfuza Akhter, 40.

Deceased’s relative Zakir Hossain told Banglanews that the accident happened around 1:00pm in front of Bata showroom in Tongi as Shahidul along with his wife crossing the road while a Turag Paribahan bus ran them over. 

They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition where succumbed to injuries later, he added. 

DMCH police outpost sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia said the bodies were kept in hospital morgue.
