CHITTAGONG: Police recovered the body of a three-year old minor girl in Chittagong city on Tuesday (November 14), a day after she went missing.

Police suspect that the child girl died during rape. She was strangulated to death, as nail marks were found on her face and back side of body.

The deceased was identified as Sohagi Akhter Bibi Sumaiya, daughter of Md Yusuf of Kunjachhaya Residential area under Bayezid Bostami police station in the port city.

Yusuf used to live in the area with his wife Bokul Begum and the adopted girl Sohagi.

The minor girl went missing in the morning on Monday (November 13) from the area when she was playing near her residence. She was found dead at about 6:00 am on Tuesday (November 14) near the residence.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of police in Chittagong Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan told Banglanews that they recovered the body. They suspect that Sohagi was strangulated to death during harassment.

Yusuf and Bokul couple adopted the girl three years ago from a slum when she was only three-day old.
