Woman commits ‘suicide’ in city

DHAKA: A woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at East Rampura area in the city on Tuesday (November 14).

The deceased was identified as Lima Akthar, 20, daughter of Kabbir Hossain of Mondolgati village of Mohammadpur upazila in Magura. She had been living with her parents in East Rampura area of the city.

Aleya Begum, the deceased’s mother, told Banglanews that Lima married to a man named Imarot Hossan, of Savar about three years ago.

While living with her husband after marriage, Lima used to work for a local garment factory.

They had regular quarrels over phone conversation.  Therefore, she was living with us for the last six months.
 
On Tuesday, Lima was noticed prolonging her stay in the bathroom longer than usual after entering at 9:30 am.

With no response from inside, the door was broken. Lima was found lying on the floor while her scarf was dangling from the ventilator.
 
She was immediately taken to Foraji Hospital at Banasree area. She was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). The doctors of DMCH declared Lima dead at 11:30 am.
 
Sub-Inspector (SI) Bacchu Miah at DMCH police camp told Banglanews that the body was kept for post-mortem examination.
