‘Robber’ killed in Jessore ‘gunfight’

JESSORE: A suspected robber, aged about 40, was allegedly killed in a gunfight between two rival groups on the Jessore-Magura Highway of sadar upazila on Tuesday (November 14).

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. 

Jessore Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Ajmal Huda told Banglanews that, on information, police went to the spot at Nonggorpur Bazaar. Meanwhile, sensing the presence of law enforcers, robbers dispersed.

However, a bullet-hit robber was rescued to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital, but doctors of emergency department declared him dead on arrival.

A home-made one shooter-gun, one round bullet, five sharp daggers, a Chinese axe, rope and 7-8 pairs of shoes were seized from the site.

The body is kept in the morgue. Efforts are being made to identity the deceased, the OC added.
