PM for least exam stress on school children Mohiuddin Khan, Additional Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, talking to reporters

DHAKA: The Ministry of Education is working to find ways for reducing pressure of examinations and making school life entertaining for children as par the instructions given by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Mohiuddin Khan, Additional Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, made the statement while visiting at a JSC examination center of Motijheel Ideal School and College, on the first day (November 01) of the JSC and JDC examination.
This year, JSC regular students will not be subjected to examinations of Physical Education and Health, Worker and Life-oriented Education and Arts subjects.

Educational institutions are instructed to submit marks of these three subjects to the concerned centers after continuous evaluation of students.

The Additional Secretary said, “There will be a series of assessments in these three subjects. Marks of the subjects will go from school to the center secretary. Then, it will transfer it electronically to the board. Thus, it will reduce pressure.”

Moreover, he said, “We will lighten workload of SSC and HSC in turn. Our purpose is to give examinees as little pressure as possible, especially JSC examinees who are very tender in age. In England and many other countries in the world, students are not allowed to take books home at primary levels.”

“On the contrary, kids tend to droop at the burden of books here. We are taking various steps to lessen pressure of exams and enjoyable life of children as par the directions of the Prime Minister.”

At the time, Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman also said that “It is Prime Minister’s intention to make a happier school experience for children.”
