RAJSHAHI: Police recovered the bodies of a couple from their house at Baromail village in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Sunday afternoon (Oct 22).

The deceased were identified as Sony Islam, 25, son of one Shahidul Islam of the village and his wife Nipa Khatun, 21, daughter of one Abu Bakar Siddique of Foradpur village of the upazila.

Sony was a mechanic who used to repair cell phones. 

Locals said Sony’s wife Nipa and his mother could not get along very well and used to quarrel over simple household matter. Nipa committed suicide in the morning after feuding with her mother-in-law. Later Sony committed suicide following her death.

Godagari police station officer-in-charge (OC) Hipzur Alam told Banglanews that initially it is being suspected that both of them committed suicide by hanging as injury marks were found in their neck. 

The bodies were sent to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. Primarily an Unnatural Death (UD) case is being filed over the incident. Further action will be taken if anything new comes up in the investigation, the OC added.
