DHAKA: Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) filed a writ application with the High Court Sunday (October 22), seeking eviction of some 30 illegal establishments on the banks of Turag River in Gazipur.

The HC fixed October 29 for hearing upon the plea.

The appeal was filed to the bench of Justices Kazi Reza-Ul Haque and Mohammad Ullah.

Earlier, a judicial report was submitted in this regard.

Advocate Monjil Morshed moved for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Taposh Kumar Biswas moved for the state.

“The judicial report said about encroachments of Turag River by illegally establishing some 30 establishments occupying both sides of Tongi Kamarpara Bridge”, said Monjil Morshed.

We have appealed for eviction of the encroachments, he added.
