DHAKA: An elderly couple, who fell sick while traveling by a bus from Noakhali to Dhaka, died in Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday night (Oct 15).

The deceased were identified as Sirajul Islam, 62 and his wife Jhorna Begum, 52, hailed from Chatgaon village of Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali. The couple had been living in Dhaka’s Sayedabad area with their daughter and son.

Deceased’s relative Sumon said the couple went to Noakhali a few days ago after receiving death news of Jhorna’s brother. While returning from there on Sunday, Jhorna fell sick at first on the moving bus followed by Sirajul. They were taken to hospital on Mugdha area at first and then quickly transferred to DMCH where on-duty physician declared them dead.

Sumon further said Jhrona Begum sustained head injury after slipping on the floor in her village home and Sirajul had heart disease.

DMCH police outpost ASI Babul Mia told Bnaglanews that police filed a case due to Jhorna’s head injury, however handed over her husband’s body to family members.
