Elderly couple found dead in Netrokona

NETROKONA: Police recovered the bodies of an elderly Hindu couple from their own house in Satpai Ramkrishna Mission route area of Netrokona town on Friday noon (Oct 13).

The deceased were identified as Mihir Kanti Biswas, 70 and his wife Tulika biswas, 50. Mihir was a retired teacher of Krishnagobinda High School in Sadar Upazila and her wife Tulika was a social worker. 

Joya Rani, the couple’s house maid, told Banglanews that everything was alright when she left after work on Wednesday noon (Oct 11) and found the door locked from inside when came back on Friday noon. After receiving rotten smells from inside, she called locals. 

On information, Mihir’s younger brother Samir came to the spot and discovered the bodies after breaking into the house with the help of locals, she added. 

Tulika’s brother Mrittunjay told Banglanews that the couple lived in the house by themselves. They have a son and daughter who live in Dhaka and recently visited them during Durga Puja. Everything inside the house was ravaged and closet’s lock found broken.

On information, Netrokona Superintendent of Police (SP) Joydeb Chowdhury, ASP SM Ashraful Alam, OC Amir Taimur inspected the crime scene. 

SP Joydeb Chowdhury said whoever responsible behind the killings will be brought to justice.
