Civil society members for national unity to solve Rohingya crisis

DHAKA: Civil society members at a roundtable discussion on Thursday (October 12) said that a national unity now needs to resolve the Rohingya crisis.

They said that the Rohingya issue can create problem related to the security. So a strong diplomatic pressure has to be created on the Myanmar government for repatriation of Rohingya refugees.   

Susashoner Jonno Nagorik (SUJON), a citizen platform, arranged the roundtable discussion on “Rohingya Crisis: Perspective, Present Situation and the Responsibilities” at the National Press Club in the city.

SUJON executive member Ali Imam Majumder read out a written statement, while its secretary Badiul Alam Majumder, adviser to the former caretaker government M Hafiz Uddin Khan, columnist Syed Abdul Maksud, human rights activist Dr Hamida Hossain, former state minister for foreign affairs Abul Hasan Chowdhury and former ambassador Munshi Foyez Ahmed also took part in discussion at the roundtable, among others.  
    
    
Ali Imam Majumder in the written statement said that the Rohingya refugees are facing acute crisis of food, pure drinking water, sanitation, medical treatment and other problems.
