People instructed to prevent Rohingyas from spreading

DHAKA: Police have instructed the people to prevent the Rohingya refugees from spreading across the country so that they can’t come out of the refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.

The police gave the instruction in a press release issued from the Police Headquarters on Saturday (September 16). Additional inspector general (AIG) of police Soheli Ferdous signed the press release.

The police instruction came amid escalating concern that the Rohingya refugees might spread out across the country.

In the press release, the police headquarters said that that the government is providing the food, accommodation and medical treatment support to the Rohingyas in the refugee camps. They will stay in the camps until they can return to their country.

The police instructed the local people not to rent out their houses to the Rohingya refugees, who have entered Bangladesh following persecution in Myanmar. They asked the transport workers and others not to transport the Rohingyas anywhere to prevent them from spreading across the country.

According to the press release, the Rohingyas cannot rent houses or take shelter in their relatives’ houses in Bangladesh and move out of their respective camps.

The refugees cannot travel through any means of transportation by road, railway and river routes.
