DHAKA: Two police constables have been suspended in connection with the incident in which Secretary of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Shahedul Khabi Chowdhury was shot.
The two constables, Imran and Ashraful, who were on duty in front of Gulshan’s Westin Hotel during the incident on Thursday evening (Aug 24).
Confirming the matter to Banglanews on Friday evening (Aug 25), DMP’s Gulshan division deputy commissioner Moshtak Ahmed Khan said negligence of duty by the two constables were found in the initial investigation.
Moreover, a three-member committee headed by Gulshan zone assistant commissioner (Petrol) Rezaul Karim was formed to investigate the incident and asked to submit report within one day, he added.
Earlier on Thursday eveing, the secretary to the education board, Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, was allegedly shot in police gunshot near Westin hotel in Gulshan of Dhaka.
Shahedul was waiting in front of the hotel and suddenly shot by a shotgun bullet accidentally fired by one of the guards who was putting shells inside it.
Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddique said injured Shahedul is undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in Gulshan and currently his physicial condition is out of danger.
