DHAKA: BNP leader and ABN Group MD Sayeed Shahadat Ahmed has been kidnapped from city’s Banani area, his family alleges. 

Abductees’ son Sayeed Mehedi Zaman told Banglanews that he was abducted from adjacent areas to Banani flyover on Airport Road around 3:00 pm Tuesday (Aug 22).

Mehedi said a microbus appeared and blocked their car while his father was driving on the road under the Banani flyover. Mehedi and their house help were also inside the car at that time. 

“A few men came out of the microbus and picked up my father while one of them sit in the driver’s sit of our car and followed the microbus till it stopped in Purbachal area at the end of the 300-fit road through Kuril, Bishwa Road points. At that point the driver left our car, returning us the car key, to join his associates in the microbus. The microbus went towards Narayanganj.”

Before leaving the car, the driver took their cell phones and told Mehedi to stay there till his father returns within 15 minutes. 

Mehedi waited there for two hours but Shahadat did not come back. Later he called his family borrowing a cell phone from a pedestrian.
