DHAKA: The government has decided to import two lakh tonnes of wheat from Russia under the government to government (G2G) agreement in bid to stable the ongoing food crisis.
The decision was made in a high level meeting between Bangladesh and Russia at secretariat on Monday (May 21).
According a press release from Food Ministry, Russia will start importing the wheat from next month. A total of two lakh metric tonnes of wheat will be supplied by October.
Food secretary Mohammad Kaikobad Hossain led the G2G related purchase committee of Bangladesh while Mikhael Potapov led the 3-member delegation of Russaia.
