MADARIPUR: A district court has sentenced death penalty to a man for hacking a schoolgirl, Nitu Mandal, to death in Madaripur. 

Madaripur district and sessions judge Sharifuddin Ahmed passed the order on Monday (Aug 21).

The death row convict is Milon Mandal. 

Court’s public prosecutor (PP) Emran Latif told Banglanews that college student Milon hacked neighbor, Nitu Mandal, a class nine student of Nabagram High School in Kalkini upazila, to death after she refused a love proposal. 

Locals caught Milon red handed and handed him over to police. Later he confessed to the crime under Section 164 in court.

Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, Nitu’s father Nirmol Mandal told Banglanews that I have received justice and owe a great deal of gratitude to court, lawyers and journalists who made it possible.
