NILPHAMARI: A group of miscreants gang-raped a mother of three kids at a remote char at West Chatunamoy area under Junagachh Chapani union of Dimla upazila in Nilphamari.

The local miscreants forcibly raped the housewife as sequel to previous enmity over land-related dispute.

The barbaric incident took place in the early hours on Sunday (August 20).

The victim’s mother said that some 10-12 miscreants forcibly entered the house in the early hours and snatched her daughter away at dawn, leaving her bandaged in the courtyard and hands tied. They took away the housewife at the remote char and raped her there, she added.

Sub-inspector (SI) of Dimla Police Station Shahabuddin told Banglanews that locals rescued the victim, with her hands and legs tied, about one kilometer away from home at noon.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moazzem Hossain of Dimla Police Sation said that the woman was sent to Nilphamari Modern Hospital for medical test. However, police are investigating the incident, the OC said.

A case will be filed in this regard, the OC added.

While undergoing treatment at Dimla Hospital, the victim said that some 3-4 people gang-raped her.

Junagachh Chapani U/P chairman Aminur Rahman termed the incident very tragic and barbaric.

Earlier, a pregnant woman- Shefali was tortured in medieval fashion while she was tied to tree in Nilphamari.
