DHAKA: A school student drowned while taking a dip in a pond in city’s Azimpur area on Friday noon (Aug 18).

The deceased was identified as Rakib Hasan Raihan, 14, son of one Mujibur Rahman, resident of Azimpur Agrani Colony. He was s class eight student of a local school.

Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate Inspector Mahmud told Banglanews that some 4-5 people went to take a bath in that pond at noon. At some point, Raihan drowned. 

On information, a diving team of Fire Service rescued the kid from bottom of the pond in a dumbfounded condition and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty physician declared him dead on arrival, he added.
