3 of a family among 4 children drown in flood water

DINAJPUR: At least four children, including three of a family, died after they drowned in the flood water in Dianjpur on Sunday (August 13).

The tragic incident took place at Ishwarganj Madrasah area under Kaharole upazila of Dinajpur in the afternoon.
 
The deceased children are Chumki, 13, daughter of Abdur Rahman of Hasila village of Kaharole upazila, Chumki’s two younger brothers- Shahil Ali, 10, and Siyad, 7, and Shihab, 7, son of Sayeed Hossain of the same village.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaharole police station Mansur Ali Sarker confirmed the matter to the Banglanews.

The OC said that Abdur Rahman’s wife Sona Khatun along with her three children and the neighbor child was going to her home from Ishwarganj Madrasah area through raft, a flat buoyant structure of banana trees or other materials fastened together used as a boat or floating platform.

The banana raft overturned in the flood water. The four children went missing under the water. Later, the locals recovered their bodies, said the OC.
