SYLHET: A Sylhet court has awarded life term imprisonment to a man for killing one Loylu Mia at Fenchuganj upazila in the district in 2013.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Court-1 in Sylhet AM Julfikar Hayat delivered the verdict on Thursday (July 27) in presence of the convict.

The convict is Kanar Mia alias Anik Mia, 36, son of Samuj Ali of Kotalpur Pathanchakra village under Fenchuganj upazila.

According to the case statement, Loylu Mia, 40, son of Abdul Latif of the same village, was killed on May 14 in 2013. He had dispute with Anik Mia over land related issue.

On that day, Anik Mia along with his supporters attacked Loylu Mia in his residence, leaving him severe injured. He was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
