LAKSHMIPUR: A district court on Tuesday (July 25) awarded life term imprisonment to a man for killing his wife in Lakshmipur sadar upazila in 2001. The court also fined the convict Tk. 10, 000.

Judge of the Additional District and Sessions Court Saidur Rahman Gazi pronounced the verdict in the afternoon.

The convict is on the run.

The convict was identified as Jasim Uddin, son of Abdul Karim of Jamirtoli village of Lakshmipur sadar upazila.
 
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Abul Kalam Roy of Lakhmipur District Judge Court told Banglanews that the body of Fatema Begum was recovered from a ditch on May 01 in 2001.

On May 02, the deceased’s brother Sofi Ahmed filed a murder case with the Lakshmipur sadar police station.
