DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has commented that the incident of Siddiqur Rahman, the college student who was injured in police action in city’s Shahbagh, is unfortunate.

He made the comment at a press conference at the conference room of home ministry in Bangladesh Secretariat in the city on Tuesday (July 25).

The press conference was arranged to brief about the program taken on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The minister said that they already asked the police to be patient more in preventing movement and agitation.

He said they will bring them under trail those who had negligence in the incident.  

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of the National University Prof Dr. Harun-or-Rashid visited Siddiqur Rahman at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital in the city in the morning.

During his visit, the VC enquired about his treatment. He assured of providing all kinds of support to the victim.  

Pro-VC of the National University Prof Dr. Moshiur Rahman and proctor HM Tayehid Jamal were with Prof Harun at that time.

Siddiqur Rahman, a student of Govt Titumir College, received severe injuries in his eyes during police action against students of seven colleges which were affiliated to the Dhaka University recently. The students had been protesting for examination dates in Shahbagh.
